Frequently Asked Questions About CBD

(…and about ZOHKO, too!)

Are cannabinoids naturally occurring in our bodies?

Yes cannabinoid receptors already exist in our central nervous system and immune cells. Mammals have naturally occurring cannabinoids in breast milk and during pregnancy so our bodies have these specific cannabinoid receptors which allow us to beneficially interact with the CBD in our products. The interaction between cannabinoids and the cannabinoid receptors in our bodies is called the endocannabinoid system.

Are your ingredients organic?

Most are, but some aren’t. We try our best to respect mother earth, after all, we wouldn’t have a playground without her!

Can CBD make you high?

No, CBD will not make you high as commonly associated with cannabis. CBD comes from the same plant, but is in a very different category than THC which is what actually produces the commonly known psychoactive effects of cannabis. ZOHKO CBD contains 0.3% THC or less, so it is not nearly a sufficient amount to produce any psychoactive effects.

Can CBD react to any of my other medications?

The majority of the studies and emerging science indicate CBD oil is safe for use and consumption. However there is evidence that suggests it can change the speed and process by which you metabolize other medications, thus it is always advised to ask your doctor if you are taking any current medication. However, similar to the rare cases of testing positive for opioids because you had a poppyseed bagel that morning, you cannot completely guarantee THC will be completely absent in a drug test. How do you extract CBD?

ZOHKO CBD uses pressurized carbon dioxide (CO2) extraction to pull CBD (and other phytochemicals) from the plant. Approximately 30 days if you average 1 pill per day.

How long does it take to see improvements?

In some cases, the beneficial effects of CBD can be felt in less than an hour, while others will take several days or weeks to notice. Overall it is commonly noted that the most immediate effect is feeling relaxed and calm, and some recommend taking CBD in the evening for their first dose to see how your body reacts. Each individual reacts differently and may notice certain benefits different than others. Unlike ingredients that build tolerance, CBD works differently by accumulating over time in the endocannabinoid system receptors. This explains why people feel stronger effects over time with regular use.

Each ZOHKO CBD Energy capsule contains 100mg of caffeine – about the same caffeine as a cup of coffee. What does the endocannabinoid system do?

The endocannabinoid system is like a lock-and-key system. This is because there are two groups of receptors CB1/CB2, which can only take in or “lock” with certain cannabinoids each producing unique biological functions and effects. CB1 receptors are found mostly in the brain creating the psychoactive effects of cannabis. CB2 receptors, which are targeted by CBD, are found throughout the body and carry out most of the other biological functions which cannabinoids serve such as regulating appetite, sleep, pain etc. CBD cannot bind to the CB1 receptors in our brains which is why it does not produce any psychoactive effects.
